Colchester: The St Helena Hospice charity walk is back! This annual event is set for May 18, just two days before the hospice celebrates 40 years of caring for patients.

Since 2011, this family-friendly walk has been a hit with locals and businesses alike. It’s a great way to support the hospice while enjoying a lovely day out.

Every year, hundreds from Tendring and Colchester come together for this event. Last year, over 700 walkers took part, with many completing the full 14 miles!

Participants can start from either Clacton or Walton Pier and choose to walk the seven miles between them or tackle the round trip. It’s a fun challenge!

Marcus Poston, a spokesman for the hospice, encourages everyone to join in. He said it’s a chance to honor families supported by the hospice over the years.

Adults can register for just £10, while kids can join for £5. Each participant is asked to raise £40 to help the hospice continue its vital work.

And there’s more! A silent disco will be available for walkers starting from Clacton Pier, so you can groove while you walk.

To celebrate the 40th anniversary, there’s a special ruby ticket for £40, which includes a thank you card and a pin badge.
