Colchester: A tragic crash occurred on Saturday morning. Makyle Bayley, 22, was one of four students who died when their car hit a building on Magdalen Street.

Along with Makyle, the other victims were 24-year-old TJ Hibbert, 21-year-old Eva Darold-Tchikaya, and 22-year-old Daljang Wol.

His family remembers him as a passionate basketball player. They described him as a beloved son, proud big brother, and true friend.

They shared, “Makyle was full of life and promise. He studied Sports Science at Essex University and loved basketball.”

Makyle played for the Essex Rebels, his university’s basketball team. He also coached youth players and was the first ambassador for the YES charity.

His family said, “Makyle was more than an athlete. His kindness and joy will never be forgotten.”

They expressed their heartbreak, saying, “Our lives will never be the same without him.”

Specialist officers are supporting the families affected by the crash. Police are still investigating and believe no other vehicles were involved.

If anyone saw a black Ford Focus around Magdalen Street at that time, please contact the police. They are looking for any CCTV, dash cam, or doorbell footage.
