Coleg Cambria aims to build a new 50-bed student accommodation at its Llysfasi campus to meet rising demand.
Ruthin: Coleg Cambria is expanding its Llysfasi campus. They just finished a £10 million agriculture and education center. This center includes a library, classrooms, a climbing wall, and more.
TACP Architects designed the new building. Read Construction, also from Wrexham, will build it.
Elin Roberts, head of Llysfasi, noted a big rise in student numbers. Partnerships with companies like AGCO and Kubota have increased visits from learners across the UK.
She mentioned a 70% increase in students. This growth means more accommodation is needed, especially for apprentices who come for three-week blocks.
These new facilities will complement the existing hostel. They aim to provide a top-notch environment for students and staff.
Recently, the campus has seen many upgrades. The focus now is on using the new facilities effectively.
The new accommodation follows a £1.2 million rural education center built four years ago. This center offers IT suites, workshops, and community services.
Elin emphasized that the new block aligns with their goal of being a leading agriculture college. They want to provide modern facilities and quality learning.
She also highlighted the beautiful location in the Vale of Clwyd, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The plans aim to support the local economy and train future agricultural workers. The accommodation will feature en-suite bedrooms and social areas.
Elin expressed excitement about the project and hopes to get approval soon. This will help strengthen their commitment to students and the community.
