The North Devon community has come together to support families in need this Christmas, bringing joy and hope to those facing tough times.
North Devon: This holiday season, the community really stepped up to help families in need. A local charity, NDADA, reached out for support, and wow, did people respond!
They collected over 2,000 gifts for women and children escaping domestic abuse. It’s heartwarming to see so many people come together to make a difference.
Many families arrive at the refuge with hardly anything, and Christmas can be especially tough for the kids. So, the charity set up an online appeal and raised £422, but that was just the beginning.
Local churches, businesses, and generous folks donated gifts galore. This year, they managed to provide presents for 202 children and 105 adults. How amazing is that?
One anonymous donor even gave £250 to take the kids to a pantomime. Plus, The Voice FM pitched in with toys, and Primark Barnstaple provided gift bags. It’s all about community spirit!
Rachel Tossell from NDADA expressed her gratitude, saying the support really shows clients they’re not alone during the holidays. It’s touching to see individuals who’ve been helped in the past giving back.
Hannah Ashford, the CEO, echoed those sentiments, thanking everyone for their kindness. She highlighted how important community support is, especially as they celebrate their 50th year.
NDADA is truly grateful to everyone who donated, from local churches to businesses. It’s a beautiful reminder of how compassion can change lives during the festive season.
