Local councillors express worries about Ellen DeGeneres’ extension and potential Roman remains
Cotswolds: Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi bought a farmhouse for £15 million. They paid £2.5 million over the asking price.
Local parish councillors are worried. They say Ellen might have broken rules with a new extension.
Three councillors think the extension could disturb Roman remains. They contacted planning enforcement officers about it.
The parish council noted that owners must report any historic finds. Residents also worry about flood risks from a hedge and fence.
A spokesperson from West Oxfordshire District Council said the Roman remains are far from the property. They confirmed the work was done well.
Councillor Rosie Pearson mentioned she raised concerns about the extension. However, it was found not to be a serious issue.
Last November, Ellen was seen at a local pub owned by Jeremy Clarkson. She was with pop star James Blunt.
Reports said their 43-acre property flooded during Storm Bert. Ellen later reassured friends on Instagram that this wasn’t true.
