The Independence Forum Scotland will host a national convention in Edinburgh, focusing on governance and self-determination.
Edinburgh: The Independence Forum Scotland (IFS) is hosting a national convention. It’s happening in March and will focus on Scotland’s future.
Twenty-one member organizations are part of IFS. They aim to encourage cooperation in the independence movement.
Attendees will discuss a paper from groups like Constitution For Scotland and Liberation Scotland. The focus will be on Scotland’s sovereignty and governance.
Instead of lectures, everyone will participate in discussions. They’ll talk about Scotland’s right to self-determination.
What will be discussed at the convention?
Before the event, members will consider key questions. They’ll look at what needs to improve in current governance.
They’ll also discuss their vision for democracy and how to achieve it. Two main topics are “Our Land” and “Scotland’s Energy Future.”
IFS secretary John Brown noted that this isn’t a citizens’ or constitutional convention. However, it could evolve into one over time.
He emphasized that the convention isn’t tied to party politics. It aims for meaningful self-determination for Scotland.
Where will the Convention for Scotland’s Future take place?
The convention will be on Saturday, March 1, at the Greyfriars Charteris Centre in Edinburgh. Space is limited to 120 attendees.
