Raymond Moody alleges his girlfriend assisted in the abduction and murder of Brittanee Drexel in 2009, revealing shocking details.
Myrtle Beach: So, there’s this wild story coming out about a guy named Raymond Moody. He’s the one who was convicted of killing Brittanee Drexel back in 2009. Recently, he told the FBI that his girlfriend was right there with him when it all went down. Can you believe that?
Moody, who’s now 64, got life in prison after he finally led the cops to Brittanee’s body in 2022. She went missing during a spring break trip, and it took years to solve the case. His girlfriend, Angel Cooper Vause, 56, got arrested last year for her part in this mess. She’s already pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI.
Now, as Vause is about to be sentenced, Moody is saying she didn’t just watch; she was in on the whole plan. He claims they were out “hunting” for girls that night. He even said she texted him before, saying she’d always wanted to snatch a girl. That’s just chilling.
They tried to grab someone the night before but backed off because they were worried about getting caught. The next night, they spotted Brittanee walking alone and decided to go for it. Moody said Vause helped lure her into their car by pretending to be tourists.
Once Brittanee was in the car, Moody had Vause drive while he restrained her in the backseat. He told her not to panic and made some crazy claims about ransom. They took her to a tent they had set up, and that’s where the horror unfolded.
Moody claims Vause could have let Brittanee go while he was away but didn’t. After he assaulted her, he strangled her with a rope. He said he didn’t think Vause knew he was going to kill her, but she was there the whole time and didn’t stop him.
After the murder, he stabbed her with an ice pick and stuffed her body in the trunk. Then, he went home and slept like nothing happened. He buried her later, worried Vause might spill the beans. When the FBI talked to her in 2022, she was falling apart, and Moody was worried about that.
He even told her to lie about what happened that night. Now, he’s sharing all this info not out of revenge but to make sure some of his stuff goes to Vause’s grandkids. Vause is set to be sentenced soon, and she could be looking at a long time behind bars.
