Coulport: A special event took place at the Royal Armament Depot Coulport to celebrate the newly refurbished canteen building, now named The John Kibble Building. It’s all about creating fresh office space for the staff.

During the ceremony, Commodore Sharon Malkin ADC unveiled a plaque, surrounded by the teams who worked hard on this project. It was a proud moment for everyone involved.

The revamped building offers a variety of office spaces and can be booked for training sessions or meetings. There are even soundproof booths for those who need a bit of quiet.

Two main conference rooms are available, each soundproofed and designed to hold up to 25 people. They’ve got theatre-style seating and bifold doors that can be opened up for larger gatherings.

With room for about 150 workers, this space is a real upgrade. Plus, there’s a newly renovated gym right next door, making it a great spot for the staff.

Interestingly, John Kibble, the building’s namesake, was an entrepreneur who created The Kibble Crystal Art Palace. His original structure was located right there in Coulport until 1871.

He had it dismantled and transported to Glasgow, where it was rebuilt on a grander scale, complete with a stunning circular dome. Quite the transformation, right?
