Newport: Recently, a few folks found themselves in court for some not-so-great reasons.

Callum Davies, just 20, from Shakespeare Crescent, got hit with a £785 bill after admitting to having £2,135 in cash that was deemed criminal property and a bit of cannabis.

Then there’s Meryl Rees, 60, from Marshfield, who got a 15-week jail sentence, suspended for a year, plus a three-year driving ban for drink driving. She blew 132 micrograms of alcohol in her breath last August.

She’s also got to do a 20-day rehab program and pay £554 in fines.

Caitlyn Collins, 18, from Blackwood, got a conditional discharge and a three-year restraining order for an assault last June. She has to pay her victim £200.

Rebecca Hole, 41, from Blaina, was banned from driving for two years after being found guilty of drink driving with a breath reading of 92 micrograms. She’s on the hook for £1,861 in fines.

Shane Edwards, 58, from Blackwood, also got banned from driving for 28 months after testing positive for drugs while driving. He has to pay £365.

Ryan Wheeler, 30, from Newport, received a community order and a restraining order for harassment. He’s got to complete a 10-day rehab program and pay £414.

Lastly, Neil Samuel, 48, from Caerphilly, got a 12-month community order for harassment, along with a 20-day rehab requirement and some fines.
