Several individuals from South Essex faced penalties for various offenses, including driving violations and fare evasion.
Southend: A driver ran a red light on the A127 and was fined. Liam John Parker, 36, drove through the signal on April 24 last year. He admitted the offense at Southend Magistrates’ Court.
Parker was fined £269, with £110 in costs and a £108 victim surcharge. He received three penalty points. The court noted his business and family responsibilities, avoiding disqualification.
A Southend woman was banned from driving for 17 months for drink-driving. Chantelle Boland, 36, drove a Nissan Juke on Christmas Eve with 60 micrograms of alcohol in her breath. The legal limit is 35.
Boland admitted the offenses at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court. She was fined £392, with £85 in costs and a £157 victim surcharge. Her ban can be reduced by 17 weeks if she completes a rehabilitation course.
A Southend man was fined for traveling without a valid train ticket. Sam Williams, 34, boarded a train from West Ham to Southend Central on September 5 last year without a ticket.
Williams was fined £220 and ordered to pay £10.80 compensation, £88 as a victim services surcharge, and £125 in prosecution costs.
A Westcliff man also faced a fine for traveling without a valid ticket. James Pusey, 40, boarded a train from Southend East to Leigh on August 19, 2024, without a ticket.
Pusey was fined £220 and ordered to pay £2.60 in compensation, £88 as a victim services surcharge, and £125 in prosecution costs.
A man was fined for threatening to damage a Southend garage. James Farraway, 39, admitted threatening a police officer about Bridge Garage.
Farraway was ordered to pay £50 in compensation. The court noted his guilty plea when determining the sentence.
A Basildon woman was fined for assaulting another woman. Samantha Lander, 38, admitted to the assault on December 24, 2024, which involved emergency workers.
Lander was fined £200 and ordered to pay £100 compensation. The court prioritized compensation over additional costs due to her financial situation.
A Rochford man was fined for failing to identify a driver to police. Daquan Francis, 21, did not provide information about a Piaggio Vespa GTS linked to an alleged offense on September 7, 2023.
Francis was found guilty in his absence at Basildon Magistrates’ Court. He was fined £660, ordered to pay £110 in costs, and received six penalty points.
A speeding driver was banned for going 75mph in a 50mph zone. Patrick Amoako, of Stanford-le-Hope, was caught driving an Audi on the M1 in Northampton.
Amoako, 42, admitted the offense last November and was banned for six months. He was fined £293, with a £117 victim services surcharge and £90 in prosecution costs.
An uninsured driver was banned from the roads. Samantha Brooks, 57, was driving a BMW in Billericay without insurance on March 22 last year.
Brooks was banned for six months and fined £500. She must also pay £110 in prosecution costs and a £200 victim surcharge.
A fare dodger was fined for traveling three stops without a ticket. Abdalla Elwary, 38, was found on a c2c train from Leigh to Southend Central on September 12 last year.
Elwary was fined £220, ordered to pay £2 in compensation, an £88 victim services surcharge, and £125 in prosecution costs.
A man caught without a £5.90 train ticket was ordered to pay over £300. William Agyarko, 44, was traveling from Upminster to Benfleet station on September 14 last year.
Agyarko, of Southend, admitted the offense. He was ordered to pay a £150 fine, a £60 victim surcharge, and £125 in prosecution costs.
