Croydon: The 154 bus service is causing frustration for many passengers. Users report that buses often terminate unexpectedly, leaving people stranded. This is especially tough for vulnerable riders, including schoolchildren.

Residents in Sutton’s Roundshaw Estate feel the impact the most. They say the bus often skips their area during busy times, making it hard to get around.

The 154 connects Morden Station and West Croydon Bus Station, passing through Merton, Sutton, and Croydon. Many rely on this route to access key transport hubs in South London.

Daren Fishwick, a Roundshaw resident, shared his struggles. He’s been left waiting for hours at Waddon due to the bus terminating early. He often has to walk, which is painful for him.

Elaine Humphreys, another regular user, described a recent experience. Four buses terminated early, leaving her stuck and late for her appointment. She spoke to a driver who said there were no traffic delays; they were just told to stop.

Charles Kane also faced issues. He’s seen multiple buses terminate at the same stop, leaving passengers confused. One driver even got aggressive when asked about the situation.

Former driver Joanne Fraser noted that this disruption seems new. She mentioned that while occasional terminations happened, they were not as frequent as now. Passengers shouldn’t have to wait over an hour for the next bus.

The Roundshaw Estate feels the service cuts deeply. Last year, the popular 455 route was replaced with the slower S4, which many residents dislike.

Residents like Sue Seal and Suzie Otto expressed their frustration. They believe the removal of the 455 bus has left them with inadequate service to important locations.

Parents in Roundshaw worry about their children walking long distances after school. They feel it’s unsafe, especially during dark winter months. The TfL Go app often shows incorrect bus arrival times, adding to the confusion.

MP Bobby Dean has started a petition for a permanent solution. He revealed that the 154 bus cut short its journey over 2,000 times last year.

Dean stated that the service is crucial for Roundshaw residents. He has reached out to Transport for London multiple times, seeking action on the issue.

Rosie Trew from TfL acknowledged the problems. She assured that they are working with Go Ahead London to address the issues, including heavy traffic and road closures affecting the service.
