A rare red weather warning has been issued for Armagh as Storm Éowyn approaches, bringing severe winds and potential hazards
For the first time ever, the whole of Ireland is under a red weather warning. The Met Office bumped up the amber warning to red early Thursday morning. This kicks in at 7am on Friday and lasts until 2pm the same day.
Expect some wild winds, with gusts hitting nearly 90mph in Co Armagh between 6am and 9am. The Met Office is urging folks to stay indoors and avoid driving if possible.
They’re warning about flying debris that could pose a real danger to life. Plus, driving conditions will be tricky with fallen trees and power cuts affecting services like mobile coverage.
There’s a good chance we’ll see roads, bridges, and railway lines closed, leading to delays and cancellations for buses, trains, ferries, and flights.
On top of that, there’s also an amber warning in place for Northern Ireland from 6am to 9pm. Stay safe out there!
