Residents of Cockenzie are frustrated as the delivery of a crucial transformer is postponed, causing further disruption in the area.
Cockenzie: Last Sunday, folks were excited to see the first super transformer roll through town for the new offshore wind farm. But this time, things didn’t go as planned. The second transformer was supposed to make its way from the Port of Leith, but it never left the dock.
Inch Cape explained that they couldn’t deliver it because they didn’t have the right resources for a safe trip. Siemens and Police Scotland were supposed to help with the delivery, but it just didn’t happen.
Ben Morse, who heads the local community council, expressed disappointment. He mentioned that residents have already faced a lot of noise and disruption, especially with late-night work to remove street furniture. They were hoping the delivery would help things get back to normal.
He’s looking forward to hearing about a new schedule for the delivery and when the area can finally settle down. Inch Cape confirmed that the transformer is still at the Port of Leith and that they’ll notify everyone affected when they have a new plan.
As of now, it’s unclear when the delivery will actually take place. Siemens and Police Scotland have been reached out to for more information.
