Yeovil: Big changes are happening in the town! The demolition of Glovers Walk is officially on the way, and it’s all part of a larger plan to refresh the area.
Somerset Council is teaming up with local businesses and bus operators to ensure everything goes smoothly as they prepare for the demolition. They’ve even cordoned off some nearby buildings to keep everyone safe.
Walters UK is the contractor in charge, and they’re set to kick things off soon. Survey work is already happening, and the actual demolition will start in late October.
This project is part of the Yeovil Refresh initiative, which aims to revamp the town center with a budget of £24 million. It’s a big deal for the community!
Cllr Mike Rigby mentioned that thanks to a £4.8 million grant from the government, they can finally move forward with this important project. They’re planning to create a temporary space for community use while they figure out long-term plans.
Jim Webb from Walters UK expressed excitement about the project, saying it’s a fantastic opportunity to help regenerate Yeovil. They’re looking forward to working closely with the council.
