Demolition has started on the old Star Hotel, paving the way for a new community hub in Crieff.
Crieff: Demolition work has kicked off at the old Star Hotel. A crew started tearing it down on Friday morning. This hotel was a popular spot on East Hogh Street.
Creative Crieff is leading a new project to replace the hotel. They want to turn the site into a cinema and community hub. This is part of the town’s regeneration efforts.
The new designs include a state-of-the-art radio station, a community garden, and a bistro. Creative Crieff believes this project will greatly benefit the locals.
A spokesperson for Creative Crieff said it marks the end of an era. They see it as a new chapter for Crieff with the ‘Star Experience’ coming soon.
The development will feature a two-screen cinema. One screen will offer a boutique experience, while the other will focus on educational purposes.
Additionally, there will be a community hub, an indoor-outdoor bistro, and a new location for Heartland FM. An outdoor social space is also planned.
The first phase will focus on the ‘Star Garden’ for community use. They aim to open it by summer to encourage planting and growth.
Creative Crieff is committed to respecting the area’s history while enhancing community life in Crieff. This project is one of several multi-million-pound developments planned for the town.
