The Vale Grocer, run by Chris and Liz Kameen, is up for a Countryside Alliance Award, celebrating small businesses in rural Wales.
Denbigh: The Vale Grocer, owned by Chris and Liz Kameen, is making waves by being shortlisted for a Countryside Alliance Award in the Rural Enterprise category for Wales. How cool is that?
These awards are all about celebrating small businesses in the food and farming scene, and they’ve been around for 18 years now. It’s a big deal for local shops!
Sarah Lee, who directs the awards, mentioned that these accolades shine a light on the hardworking folks behind these businesses, not just their products. It’s all about recognizing the effort that keeps our communities thriving.
Chris and Liz are passionate about their local produce. They’re all about organic veggies and fruits, and they deliver around 100 boxes each week to their customers. That’s some serious dedication!
They also started a farmers’ market to help other local food businesses connect with the community. Liz pointed out that organic food doesn’t have to be pricey; it can be accessible for everyone.
One happy customer even shared how their eating habits have improved since they started getting those fresh boxes. It’s great to see how local businesses can make a real difference!
The winners will be decided by public vote in January, and the results will be announced at the Senedd in Cardiff Bay on April 29, 2025. Exciting times ahead!
