Denbighshire Council is on the lookout for reablement workers to enhance support for residents recovering from illness or hospital stays
Rhyl: Denbighshire Council is stepping up its game by hiring new reablement workers. This is all about helping folks get back on their feet after a hospital stay or illness.
The reablement service is designed to help residents regain everyday skills like cooking and dressing. It’s a short-term support system, usually lasting one to two weeks, but can go up to six weeks if needed.
According to the council, this initiative is part of a broader strategy to create a sustainable social care service. It’s also a way to ease some of the financial pressures they’re facing.
Darylanne, a senior care worker, shared how rewarding it is to see people regain their independence. She emphasized that the goal is to help residents live their lives fully.
Ann Lloyd, who heads the adult social care and homelessness service, highlighted the importance of helping residents live in their own homes. With the right support, they can maintain their wellbeing and independence for longer.
They’re looking for compassionate individuals who want to make a difference. If you’re interested in helping residents gain skills and live independently, they’d love to have you on the team.
Councillor Elen Heaton mentioned that many residents returning home from the hospital need a bit of help adjusting. Simple tasks like cooking and cleaning can be challenging after a stay in the hospital.
She encouraged anyone with good communication skills and a genuine desire to help to consider joining their caring team. If you’re interested, you can drop by Hafan Deg in Rhyl for an informal chat on Thursdays during January and February.
