Chorley: The Derian House Top Dog Challenge is back, and it’s a great way to get involved! This charity event encourages dog owners to walk every day in February to raise funds for the hospice.

Now in its third year, the challenge asks participants to walk 100km throughout the month. That’s about two miles a day, which is totally doable if you’re already walking your pup!

Each person is encouraged to raise at least £100. It’s a fantastic way to support families who rely on Derian House.

Hayley Lawson Duffin, a dog owner, shared how much she enjoys walking her whippets, Skye and Violet, while helping the charity. She said it’s rewarding to track her walks and know that every step counts.

Ellie Smith, a community fundraiser at Derian House, is excited about the event. She invites everyone to lace up their walking shoes and join in. Participants will receive a free fundraising pack and a cute bandana for their dogs!

Derian House Children’s Hospice supports over 400 children and their families, and it costs £6 million to operate each year. They rely heavily on donations, so every bit helps.

If you want to join the Top Dog Challenge, check out the Derian House website or reach out to Ellie Smith directly. Plus, to kick things off, there’s a group walk at Astley Park on February 1 at 10am. Meet outside Cafe Ambio!
