Sam Aston from Coronation Street is still in the competition after last night’s public vote, despite some tough competition.
Rawtenstall: So, Sam Aston, the guy from Coronation Street, is still in the Dancing on Ice competition. Last week, he danced to “That’s Not My Name” with his partner Molly Lanaghan. It was a fun performance!
On Sunday night, they announced the first contestant to leave the show, and it wasn’t Sam. He actually got saved by the public vote, which is pretty cool. The first couple to go home was Chelsee Healey and Andy Buchanan.
Sam was super grateful for the support. He said, “Big thank you to everyone who voted for us and kept us here another week.” It’s nice to see him appreciating the fans!
Earlier this month, he mentioned that he couldn’t ice skate at all before starting training with Molly. He said it’s been a tough but fun experience. “Training is going alright. It has been hard. I am enjoying it but at the same time, you’re really nervous,” he shared.
He’s been putting in a lot of effort, doing 30 hours of basic training before teaming up with Molly. It’s a steep learning curve, but he’s excited about the whole thing.
Sam also talked about his kids, Sonny and Daisy, who are really looking forward to seeing him on the show. They’re all about the costumes! He joked that when he announced he was doing the show, he was dressed as a snowman, and his son was more excited about that than the actual competition.
Other contestants this season include Mollie Pearce from The Traitors, along with Charlie Brooks, Josh Jones, Anton Ferdinand, Dan Edgar, Chris Taylor, and Michaela Strachan. It’s shaping up to be an exciting season!
Dancing on Ice airs on Sunday evenings, on ITV.
