A dog owner is distraught after her beloved whippet went missing in Ipswich, prompting a search and a £5,000 reward for information.
Ipswich: Claire Casely, who hails from Ipswich but now lives in Northumberland, was visiting a friend when her sweet dog, Betty, took off. It all happened on December 19. Betty, a small whippet, bolted out the door and got scared in the unfamiliar area.
She ran down Paper Mill Lane and almost got hit by a car on the A14. The police tried to help by setting up a roadblock, but Betty managed to slip away and hasn’t been seen since.
There was a possible sighting on January 1, but nothing has come up since then. Claire and her husband, Jon, are offering a £5,000 reward for any information that could help bring Betty home.
Claire expressed her heartbreak, saying, “There has been nothing, nothing at all – it is just absolutely devastating.” She feels helpless being so far away and has been posting everywhere on social media.
Betty is now 21 months old, and Claire has had her since she was a puppy. She’s described as sensitive and loving, especially towards other dogs. Claire is worried about her in the cold weather since she doesn’t have much fur.
If anyone spots Betty, Claire asks that they don’t chase her but instead take a picture and call the number provided. She just wants her little mate back home.
