The council plans to install a bus gate on Bastion Street to improve local bus services and restrict car access
Shaw-cum-Donnington: The council is looking to set up a bus gate on Bastion Street. This is to help improve bus services in the area.
They’ve put out a notice for a traffic order to stop cars from using the road section north of Love Lane. It’s all about making things easier for buses.
To enforce this, they’ll use ANPR cameras instead of physical barriers like rising bollards. This way, local buses and cycles can still get through.
Basically, only local buses and bikes will be allowed to travel along Bastion Street between certain points. Other vehicles will be turned away.
It’s worth noting that Bastion Street isn’t officially a highway yet. This project is part of the council’s Capital Programme for 2024/25.
They’re also running a public consultation for the next three weeks, so folks can share their thoughts on the plan.
