A shocking video shows a car engulfed in flames on the A35, as a local resident captures the chaos and helps alert traffic.
Highcliffe: So, there was this wild scene on the A35 where a car caught fire. A local guy, Harry Madgwick, filmed it and said it was pretty scary.
Harry was driving home with his dad when they hit a traffic jam. They were rerouted because of an earlier crash, and that’s when they spotted the burning car.
At first, they just saw a car with its hazard lights on. But as they got closer, smoke started billowing out, and then, bam, it was fully on fire!
Harry quickly told his dad to pull over and called 999 for help. He even used what3words to pinpoint their location since they weren’t sure where they were on the A35.
They stayed back because the car kept exploding. Another person was shouting for anyone inside, but it looked like the car was just abandoned and set on fire.
Harry and his dad put on some high-visibility jackets and waved red light sticks to warn other drivers. They wanted to make sure everyone stayed safe and moved away from the fire.
Luckily, the fire brigade showed up pretty quickly. After a while, they managed to put out most of the flames, but it was still smoldering when Harry and his dad left.
Harry said it was a terrifying experience, and he was shaking from the adrenaline. Thankfully, no one was hurt, and he felt good about helping out.
A spokesperson from Hampshire Fire and Rescue confirmed that they got the call at 5:58 PM and that the car was completely destroyed by the fire. The situation was under control by 6:44 PM.
