Copmanthorpe: So, there was this guy, Craig Paul Whiteley, 48, who really messed up. He crashed into a parked car so hard that it moved ten meters! Can you believe that?

Things got even crazier when the car owner’s son tried to stop him from driving off. Whiteley clipped him and knocked him down before speeding away. What a scene!

When the police finally caught up with him, he acted all clueless, saying, “What accident? I haven’t hit anybody, have I?” Seriously?

The son had been banging on Whiteley’s windscreen, trying to get him to stop, but it didn’t work. The crash left Whiteley’s car in such bad shape that parts were scraping along the road as he drove off.

Turns out, he was more than twice the legal limit for alcohol. The judge at York Crown Court didn’t buy Whiteley’s excuse about not remembering anything after visiting a pub earlier that evening. He did, however, acknowledge that Whiteley seemed remorseful.

The judge praised the son for his bravery, saying he was lucky not to be more seriously hurt. Whiteley was clearly in no state to drive, and it was just luck that no one got badly injured.

Whiteley admitted to dangerous driving and drink driving. He got a ten-month prison sentence, but it was suspended for two years since he had been under a lot of stress due to family health issues.

He’s banned from driving for two years and has to take an extended driving test before he can get back on the road. Plus, he has to pay compensation to the man he knocked over and the owner of the parked car.

It’s a wild story, and it just goes to show how dangerous drink driving can be. Let’s hope he learns his lesson!
