East London councils are getting a significant boost to tackle potholes, with over £5 million allocated for road repairs this year
Dagenham: The Department for Transport has announced some good news for east London. They’re dishing out over £5 million to help fix potholes and repair roads. This funding is part of a broader plan to tackle potholes across the country.
Havering Council is leading the pack, getting the biggest chunk at £1.08 million. That’s a nice boost for them! Redbridge isn’t far behind with £853,000, while Newham and Waltham Forest are also getting decent amounts at £692,000 and £686,000, respectively.
Barking and Dagenham will receive £556,000, and Tower Hamlets is getting the least at £447,000. It’s great to see these councils getting the support they need.
MP Margaret Mullane from Dagenham and Rainham is thrilled about this funding. She called it “much-needed” to fix the roads that have been neglected for too long. It’s not just about fixing the roads; it’s about making them safer for everyone, including motorists and cyclists.
So, here’s hoping this funding helps clear up those pesky potholes and makes our roads a lot safer!
