The investigation into an XL Bully attack on a dog in Southend has been closed due to insufficient evidence, leaving the victim’s owner frustrated.
Southend: Last August, Nicola Cavaliere’s dog, Rosie, was attacked by an XL Bully in Jones Memorial Park. Rosie, a Spanish Mastiff, suffered serious injuries and needed surgery.
Nicola was shocked when she received an email from the police saying the investigation was closed. They claimed it was “one word against another” with no solid evidence.
Rosie, who Nicola rescued from Spain, was left traumatized. Nicola shared how painful it was to see her dog hurt and covered in blood. She felt like she had let Rosie down.
After the attack, Rosie took a long time to recover. Nicola couldn’t even touch her for days. The vet managed to save her ear, but the whole experience was terrifying.
Nicola expressed her concerns about the XL Bully being a danger to other dogs and even children. The police email mentioned that the alleged owner denied the incident, which left Nicola feeling frustrated.
She was told to gather more evidence if she wanted to pursue the matter further. It’s a tough situation, and Nicola just wants to ensure the safety of other pets and people.
