A grieving family demands answers after their daughter was tragically struck and killed while crossing the street in Mesa, Arizona
Mesa: A family is heartbroken after their 5-year-old daughter was hit by a truck while crossing the street right after Christmas.
Ariyah Marie Elias was crossing at East Guadalupe Road and South Hawes Road with her mom, Alora Silva, and some other kids when the accident happened.
They were crossing when the light changed, and a truck came through the intersection on a green light, hitting Ariyah. The driver didn’t see them until it was too late.
Police tried to save her at the scene, but sadly, she was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Fortunately, no one else was hurt, but the family is devastated. They just want answers and justice for their little girl.
Alora expressed her pain, saying, “I want some answers. I want justice for my daughter. She did not deserve to go.”
It’s especially hard for her since Ariyah had just turned five a month before and still had Christmas presents waiting for her.
Alora shared how guilty she feels, not just for her daughter but for the other kids who witnessed the tragedy. It’s a nightmare no parent should have to face.
To help with funeral costs, the family set up a GoFundMe. They wrote about their love for Ariyah, saying it will never fade, even through this heartbreaking time.
