A father on trial for stabbing his daughter insists it was an accident during a playful moment, not an act of violence.
Darlington: A father, Simon Vickers, is in court after a tragic incident involving his 14-year-old daughter, Scarlett. He says it was just a freak accident during a playful moment.
Vickers, 50, is accused of stabbing Scarlett in their kitchen last July. He claims he didn’t mean to hurt her at all. The court heard that Scarlett died from a deep stab wound to her heart.
During the trial, Vickers explained that they were just having fun, throwing grapes around. He said he accidentally swiped a knife while reaching for some tongs, not realizing it was there.
He described the moment Scarlett cried out in pain, saying he had no idea she was hurt until he saw blood. Vickers insists he never intended to harm her and would have done anything to protect her.
He mentioned that he had been drinking and smoking a bit that day, but it was all in good fun. The trial is ongoing, and it’s a heartbreaking situation for everyone involved.
