Felbrigg Hall’s walled garden features unique sculptures inspired by nature, created by talented artists over 12 years
Norfolk: The walled garden at Felbrigg Hall is a beautiful spot. It features amazing sculptures inspired by the local plants and wildlife. Head gardener Tina Hammond Liew-Bedford and artist blacksmith Toby Winterbourn created these pieces over the last 12 years.
You can find the sculptures made from galvanized steel all around the garden. The area is famous for its old fruit trees and vibrant plant life. It’s a mix of native and exotic plants that thrive in the unique microclimate.
One highlight is the 18th-century Octagonal Dovecote, which still houses doves. Toby’s sculptures add a fun and wild touch to the garden. There’s even a sculpture of Bacchus, the Roman god of wine, and a group of giant mushrooms.
Functional items are also transformed into art. There are signposts made from branches and benches with backrests shaped like leaves. The gate even has a cat-shaped hole! Tina appreciates working with Toby, saying he brings their ideas to life beautifully.
Toby hopes visitors enjoy the artwork and notice the wildlife around them. The garden opens from 10 am to 3 pm starting February 1. National Trust members can enter for free.
