A young racehorse named Glorious was rescued in Kent after suffering severe injuries during transport
Kent: A young horse was rescued after a terrible incident in a lorry. Glorious, a thoroughbred mare, was being transported from Ireland when she was trampled by other horses.
When she was found, Glorious had deep cuts and wounds all over her body. The lorry driver mistakenly thought she was dead and asked for help at a stopping place in Kent.
But Glorious was alive and needed urgent care. A vet was called, and the RSPCA alerted Redwings for assistance. She had a fractured skull and severe injuries.
Her recovery took months with help from Redwings’ experienced vets. They used sedation to treat her painful wounds and allowed her to rest without constant handling.
Now, a year later, all her physical injuries have healed. Glorious has joined a herd at Redwings in Norfolk and is working on her behavior around humans.
She loves her herd mates but still struggles with human interaction. The team is helping her feel more comfortable, and she’s making progress.
Glorious has become best friends with a horse named Saskia. They are inseparable and enjoy their time together in a safe environment.
Sadly, no one has been held accountable for her injuries. The charity believes she and other horses were being transported for slaughter.
Redwings’ team is disappointed that despite their efforts, no one has faced consequences. They stress the need for better checks to protect horses during transport.
