Starting in May, visitors to Wepre Park will need to pay for parking, a change aimed at maintaining the park’s facilities and managing increased traffic.
Connah’s Quay: Wepre Park is a lovely spot known for its stunning waterfall and rich wildlife. Plus, it’s home to the historic Ewloe Castle, which dates back to the 1200s.
For ages, folks could park here for free, but that’s about to change. Starting in May, there will be parking fees. It’s a bummer, but it’s necessary.
Since the pandemic, more people have been visiting, which has led to wear and tear on the parking area. The council hopes to raise around £28,000 a year from these fees to help keep the park in good shape.
The proposed fees are pretty reasonable: £1 for up to two hours, £2 for four hours, and £4 for all-day parking. If you’re a regular, a season pass will cost £50 for the year. They’ll also be putting in payment machines, which will cost about £20,000 to set up.
To make sure people don’t just park on nearby streets to dodge the fees, the council is also planning to put in some traffic management measures at the park’s entrances. It’s all about keeping things smooth for everyone.
