Popeyes in Fulham can now stay open until midnight, despite previous violations of its license
The restaurant, located on North End Road, admitted it had been operating beyond its allowed hours. The manager thought they could stay open longer than permitted.
Popeyes wanted to extend its hours from 7 am to midnight Sunday to Wednesday, and until 1 am Thursday to Saturday. They also planned to allow deliveries an hour after closing.
Currently, they can only open from 11 am to 11 pm every day. This change worried local residents and the council’s environmental team, leading to 21 objections.
One objection came from the Barclay Road Residents group, which highlighted crime concerns in the area. They argued that shorter hours would help reduce crime by limiting customer traffic.
Residents also expressed worries about noise disturbing their sleep. John Skoulding, representing several locals, emphasized that sleep is essential, unlike fast food.
Concerns were raised about Popeyes not following their current license. One resident questioned how they could be trusted to follow new rules.
Popeyes’ agent admitted the manager had misunderstood the closing time. The head of operations promised to ensure all 70 locations follow the rules better.
During the meeting, they even offered to reduce the requested hours further. They also suggested installing sound insulation to minimize noise from equipment.
The council’s Environmental Protection officer opposed the application, citing potential noise increases.
After private discussions, councillors approved the new hours. Popeyes can now open from 10 am to midnight Monday to Saturday and until 11 pm on Sunday. Deliveries can continue until 1 am on weekends.
