Oldham: An exciting charity event took place at the European Islamic Centre. It featured speeches, nasheeds, and a charity auction. The event honored Afruz Miah and Monwar Hussain, who ran 10km daily for a year. They completed their challenge on December 31, raising over £120,000 for Gaza.

About 350 people attended, surpassing the expected 250. The famous nasheed artist, Omar Esa, performed, and the night ended with a delicious three-course meal. The auction raised £17,000, and gifts were given to supporters and sponsors.

Afruz leads the Global Relief Trust North region team, which organized the event. GRT helps in 12 impoverished countries, including Pakistan and Yemen. Monwar expressed relief after a year of running but also shared his longing for the routine.

Afruz mentioned that their next focus is on supporting Syria. He recently visited and saw the rebuilding efforts. They raised around £150,000 for this cause. The total from the event was about £40,000, thanks to generous business sponsors.

Atiq Rahman from GRT praised Afruz and Monwar for their incredible achievement. They ran for 386 consecutive days, raising awareness for Gaza. The community’s support was overwhelming, with attendees traveling from various cities. Atiq is excited to see what challenge they take on next.
