Gabriel McConkey, a former pupil, received £52,760 after a hazing incident during a rugby tour left him traumatized and changed.
He was just 17 when he went to Portugal for training. Sadly, he and other younger players were subjected to some humiliating stuff by older students. They made him shave his head and even forced him to run naked for a “naked mile.”
Things got even worse when he had to witness other boys doing inappropriate things while wearing women’s underwear. It’s just awful. His family took action against the school for not keeping the kids safe during the trip.
In court, it was revealed that he would receive over £52,000 in damages. His mom described him as being in a state of trauma after the trip, and he even quit school rugby because of it.
His lawyer said this was a tough time for him, especially with important exams coming up. But now, he feels vindicated with the settlement. It’s a relief for him and his family, and hopefully, it helps him move forward.
