A family from Gateshead had to return home early from their holiday in Greece when their beloved dog fell seriously ill and needed urgent care
Gateshead: A family was enjoying their holiday in Rhodes when their three-year-old cockerpoo, Ronnie, suddenly couldn’t move his legs. A family member rushed him to a vet in County Durham.
At the vet, they found out Ronnie had a serious condition affecting his spine and neck. He was sent to a specialist clinic in Bradbury for treatment.
Things looked hopeful at first, but then Ronnie took a turn for the worse and had to go back to the clinic. Thankfully, he was in good hands with two skilled vets who performed a four-hour surgery to stabilize his neck.
Meanwhile, his owner, Laura, hurried back from their holiday to be with him. She had to cut their trip short, but she wanted to be there for Ronnie during his recovery.
After five days at the clinic, Ronnie came home, but the road to recovery was tough. Laura shared that he was weak and had to stay in a crate for a month, only getting out for bathroom breaks.
To comfort him, Laura even slept on an air bed next to his crate at night. After a month, Ronnie started to regain his strength and could go on longer walks.
However, he’s not fully back to his old self yet. Laura mentioned he still can’t play with his favorite ball, which is a bummer for both of them.
Laura is super grateful for the care Ronnie received and can’t thank the vets enough. Here’s hoping Ronnie gets back to his playful self soon!
