The Georgian Theatre Royal reveals a vibrant lineup for spring and summer, featuring premieres, comedy, and community performances.
The season kicks off on March 1 with A Tribute to Sting and the Police. The Rozzers will perform all the hits. On May 9, The Bluejays will bring back classic hits from the 50s and 60s.
Classical music lovers can enjoy the Richmond Chamber Orchestra on April 6. They will showcase music from northern Europe.
The theatre will host the world premiere of The Moth on March 12. This new play explores a chance meeting between two men that changes their lives.
Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray will be adapted on April 11. The comedy Hannay Stands Fast will follow on May 17.
The School of Night will improvise new works on April 25. People Show will present a show about AI on June 4.
Musical theatre fans can look forward to The Flood on May 1. This show tells the story of the Boxing Day floods in 2015.
Dyad Productions will present two shows this season. That Knave Raleigh on April 8 explores the life of an Elizabethan explorer. A Room of One’s Own on July 18 focuses on Virginia Woolf’s views on literature and feminism.
Charlie Connelly will celebrate the Shipping Forecast on May 3. The History Wardrobe will present Housewife at War on June 14.
Stand-up comedy is also part of the lineup. Louise Young, Simon Evans, and Rich Hall will take the stage.
Younger audiences can enjoy Green Fingers by Fladam Theatre on March 29. Lempen Puppet Theatre will present The Golden Princess on June 1.
Community theatre is strong in Richmond. The Castle Players will present The Inn at the Top on March 7 and 8. STEPPS Theatre Group will perform Saturday Night at the A & E? on May 10.
Richmond Amateur Dramatic Society will present Antigone from March 20-22. They will also perform Terry Pratchett’s Monstrous Regiment later in the season.
Disney’s Beauty and the Beast will be performed by Richmond Operatic Society from May 21-24 and May 28-31.
The season will also feature performances from The Georgian Theatre Royal Youth Theatre.
