Residents in Glasgow are upset after bin workers left rubbish behind, prompting an apology from the council and a cleanup effort.
Glasgow: Residents were really upset when waste collectors left a mess in Yorkhill. It’s been a tough time since the bins hadn’t been collected since mid-December.
People were saying it led to a rodent problem, which is just gross. The bins were delayed because of the holidays, and it left a lot of rubbish piling up.
After the Glasgow Times reached out to the council, they finally took action. But even after the cleanup, some waste was still left behind, and folks were just “utterly disgusted.”
One resident shared how the bin men didn’t even touch the bin shed, making it impossible to get in because it was overflowing with bags. They left bins in the middle of the back court, including one without a lid. Food waste was everywhere, and it was just a terrible sight.
Residents reported the issue to the council, who apologized and came back to clear the rest of the mess. They expressed regret for the inconvenience caused by the delays.
Now that the area has been cleaned up, everyone is hoping it helps with the rat problem. Last week, a council spokesperson said they were sorry for the delays and promised to remove any remaining waste.
