The Royal North Devon Golf Club has generously donated £2180 to support the Appledore Lifeboat, showcasing community spirit and dedication.
Appledore: The Royal North Devon Golf Club just made a big splash by raising £2180 for the Appledore Lifeboat. Clifford Brown, the Veterans’ Captain, handed over the funds as part of his charity efforts for 2024.
This money came from the club’s Veterans Section, which has over 125 members. They worked hard all year, hosting events like an Open Competition in June to gather the funds.
Clifford was really happy to present the cheque, saying it’s great to support something so crucial for the community, especially with the Lifeboat celebrating its 200th anniversary in 2025.
Roy Broad, the Chairman of the RNLI Appledore Guild, expressed gratitude for the donation, especially since it coincides with the golf club’s own 160th anniversary this year. He wished them all the best for the upcoming season.
The RNLI relies on donations to keep its rescue services running around the UK’s coast. The club highlighted how important volunteers are for stations like Appledore, as they help save lives at sea.
Appledore Lifeboat is a key part of the local community and is gearing up to celebrate its 200 years of service in just a couple of years.
