Join the Great Big Beach Clean in Arrochar this January to help tackle pollution and keep our coastlines beautiful
Arrochar: The Great Big Beach Clean is happening on Sunday, January 26, starting at noon. It’s a great chance to pitch in and make a difference.
This event is organized by the GRAB Trust, and they’re teaming up with Keep Scotland Beautiful and Waste Stories. Together, they want to gather volunteers for a Marine Conservation Society Survey and a beach clean-up.
The survey is super important. It helps show just how much pollution is affecting Arrochar. Last year, Beachwatch data showed a staggering average of 8,648 litter items for every 100 meters at Arrochar Shore. That’s way higher than the Scotland-wide average of 188 items.
In 2024, only one survey was done, but it revealed over 53,000 litter items per 100 meters. The GRAB Trust is eager to back up these numbers with more data. The survey will run from noon to 1 PM, and then it’s time to clean up the beach.
If you’re thinking of joining, make sure to wear the right shoes and bring some gloves. They’ll provide other litter-picking gear. You won’t miss the spot; there will be flags to guide you.
The organizers are really hoping to get a big turnout. They want as many volunteers as possible to help keep Arrochar looking beautiful.
