Get ready for a spicy weekend as the Great Dorset Chilli Festival returns with fun, food, and fiery competitions
Sturminster Newton: The Great Dorset Chilli Festival is back for its 14th year, and it’s going to be a blast! Mark your calendars for August 2 and 3. It’s happening at the Stock Gaylard Estate, and trust me, you don’t want to miss it.
This festival is known for having the biggest selection of chilli sauce producers in the UK. You’ll find tons of food, live music, and all sorts of entertainment. Plus, there are competitions to keep things exciting!
One of the highlights is the Chilli Plant Growing Competition. It’s open to anyone who loves growing chillies, whether you’re a pro or just starting out. Festival director Miles Halton mentioned that it’s a level playing field, so even beginners can snag a win!
There are two classes in the competition. The first is for the “Bolivian Rainbow” variety, while the second is open to any chilli plant. Judges will look at how the plants look, their growth, and how many chillies they produce. Winners get a £50 gift voucher from Harts of Stur!
Matt Simpson from Simpson’s Seeds will be the judge this year, so you know it’s going to be a fair competition. Get ready for a spicy weekend filled with fun!
