A local group from Eldwick and Gilstead has raised £50,000 for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice, showcasing community spirit and dedication.
Oxenhope: A group from Eldwick and Gilstead raised £50,000 for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice. They started fundraising ten years ago after the hospice reached out to the community.
Initially, there were just five members. Now, the group has 13 dedicated individuals, including staff and volunteers. They’ve hosted many events like coffee mornings and fashion shows to raise money.
One memorable event was a Motown evening in honor of founding member Carol Marshall. Another highlight was Christine Rushworth’s visit to No 10 Downing Street to meet David Cameron and promote hospice funding.
Nicola Burdett, who works at the hospice, expressed gratitude for the community’s support. She emphasized how vital fundraising is for the hospice’s operations and care.
Harriet Wood, a senior community fundraiser, praised the group’s hard work over the years. She noted their strong connection to the hospice fuels their passion and dedication.
Harriet also mentioned the loyal local supporters who attend their events. She looks forward to their future successes and hopes they can raise another £50,000 soon.
