A Harlow student shares excitement over new engineering facilities at the University of Hertfordshire, enhancing learning and practical experience.
The university recently opened a massive £100 million building for science and engineering. It’s packed with the latest tech, including flight simulators and testing gear. This puts Hertfordshire right at the top for aerospace and automotive engineering in the UK.
Peter Thomas, a lecturer in aerospace engineering, explained how wind tunnels help students test their aircraft designs. They’re replacing an old tunnel with a brand-new one, plus adding more advanced options.
Matt Goodro, another lecturer, is thrilled about the new tools. He’s been in the defense industry and knows how to mix tech into teaching. The new facilities will let students do all sorts of cool tests, including using augmented reality in flight simulators.
Buvan Seepal, a student from Woolwich, loves the green campus and can’t wait to use the new facilities in his final year. He’s doing a placement with a systems firm and is excited about the hands-on experience.
George Sapcaliu from Harlow chose Hertfordshire after hearing great things from others. He’s enjoying the new flight simulators and is eager to test designs in the new supersonic wind tunnel.
Carl Roberts, an international student from South Africa, is also excited about the opportunities at Herts. He’s focused on aviation engineering and is looking forward to getting his private pilot license soon.
Peter Thomas mentioned that businesses are interested in the new facilities too. With many aerospace companies nearby, the university is becoming a hub for research and collaboration. It’s a great time to be studying aerospace engineering at Hertfordshire!
