Join the conversation about improving transport in North Wales and share your thoughts on the new Regional Transport Plan
North Wales: Getting around can be a bit tricky. With its rural landscape, the roads and railways often feel stretched. Many folks agree that we need to step up our game when it comes to local transport.
Ambition North Wales is on it! They’re the ones in charge of planning transport in the area and they want to hear from you. They’ve put together a draft Regional Transport Plan and are looking for your feedback.
This plan lays out what they hope to achieve over the next five years. It covers everything from trains and buses to walking and cycling. The goal? To make travel easier, boost digital connections, and be kinder to the environment.
It’s a team effort, too. The North Wales Corporate Joint Committee, along with local councils and Transport for Wales, is working together on this. They really want to make sure everyone’s voice is heard.
Councillor Goronwy Edwards, who chairs the Transport Sub-Committee, encourages everyone to chime in. He believes good transport connects people to what they need, whether it’s jobs or services. It’s all about building a strong economy.
His colleague, Councillor Dafydd Rhys Thomas, adds that solid transport links are crucial for communities. They help reduce isolation, improve access to healthcare and education, and attract visitors, which is great for local businesses.
They’re eager to gather as much input as possible to create a transport network that benefits everyone. The plan aims to guide transport policy and investments until 2030, aligning with national goals.
With the consultation open until April 14, 2025, North Wales residents have a golden opportunity to shape the future of transport. Don’t miss out—check out the details at northwalesregionaltransportplan.virtual-engage.com!
