Liverpool: Marisa Becker, 14, shines in the short film I Am Enough. The film was produced by Camera Ready Events, LnD Productions, and WildRaff Productions. It was filmed in August last year, featuring Marisa as Willow alongside ten other young actors, including Seren Basu from Wrexham.

The film is now out and being shown at major festivals, including in the USA. Marisa hopes it will be screened in local schools. She wants to share her experiences making the film, which focuses on teens opening up about mental health. The release aligns with Children’s Mental Health Week from February 3-9.

Marisa attends the Hammond School in Chester and is part of the Liverpool Empire Youth Theatre Company. She also trains with Young Screen Collective in London. Marisa has performed in various productions, including Tip Top Productions’ The Show Must Go On and Tip Top at The Musicals. After filming I Am Enough, she received an invitation to New York for another film shoot in October.

The film, scripted by Lauren J Irwin and Carol Wilson, follows young adults facing mental health challenges. They deal with issues like bipolar disorder, self-harm, and eating disorders. As they connect, their shared struggles create a bond, but their pain can also isolate them. A mentor helps them discover the healing power of music and art, allowing them to express themselves and find strength.

I Am Enough emphasizes mental health, self-care, and compassion. It reminds us that healing begins when we recognize our worth and treat others kindly.

Marisa shared, “The film shows that not all problems are big. Sometimes, small things can weigh us down, especially when we compare ourselves to others. It’s crucial not to bottle up feelings. Engaging in music and creative arts can positively impact mental health.”

Schools or groups interested in screening I Am Enough or inviting Marisa to share her experience can email ceris.becker@gmail.com for details.
