Helensburgh Leisure Centre’s gym equipment is relocating after storm damage. Library services will temporarily move to Hermitage Park pavilion.
Helensburgh: The gym equipment from the leisure centre is moving to the library on West King Street. This is due to roof damage from Storm Eowyn.
The library’s books will shift to Hermitage Park pavilion. However, it won’t open until Tuesday, February 11, at the earliest. Leisure classes will also move to Victoria Halls.
Video showed parts of the leisure centre roof flying off during the storm on January 24. Live Argyll and Argyll and Bute Council are managing the situation and hope to provide updates soon.
Paul Ashworth, Live Argyll’s general manager, mentioned they are organizing a response to the leisure centre’s closure. He said it’s been a challenging week with many moving parts.
They are working with the council to determine when they can access the facility again. They expect to have more information next week about their plans.
Live Argyll informed service users via email that this move helps maintain library services during normal hours. They are preparing the new space and aim to have the library operational by February 11.
They apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate the community’s understanding during this transition.
