Hexham’s Tesco shoppers have shown incredible generosity, donating over 2,240 toys to help brighten the holidays for local children in need
Hexham: Just in time for the holidays, Tesco Extra in Hexham rallied shoppers to donate toys. The goal was simple: make sure every child gets a gift this Christmas.
The response was amazing! The community came together and donated 2,240 brand new toys to The Salvation Army. That’s a lot of happy kids!
Claire De Silva, who heads up communities at Tesco, expressed her gratitude. She said, “We really can’t thank our customers enough for their kind contributions to this great cause.”
She added that throughout the year, Tesco supports local children and their communities, and it’s heartwarming to see the local folks step up.
Claire emphasized how the spirit of Christmas is alive in Hexham. “They have made a great many children so happy at a time of year that can be difficult for some families,” she said.
The toy drive ran in stores across the UK in December, with a whopping total of over 125,000 toys donated. Plus, Tesco chipped in £25,000 to help the Salvation Army with their ongoing efforts.
