A unique project aims to convert an old water tower into a stylish four-bedroom house, blending history with modern living.
Besford: The Besford Water Tower, built in the early 1900s, was once crucial for supplying water to Besford Court. But as technology advanced, it became obsolete. Now, only two brick tanks remain, surrounded by concrete and earth.
There’s a staircase leading up to the old tower, and it’s part of the plans for the new home. KODA Architects, working with Quarry House Investments, say the site won’t be noticeable from the nearby Croome Court.
The developers want to keep the tower’s charm while turning it into a modern home that fits the area’s character. They’ve submitted plans to Wychavon District Council, highlighting how the design will blend with the landscape.
They describe the building as an organic mound that transforms into a striking structure, with a staircase that stands out. The entrance will be cleverly integrated into the existing walls, leading into a spacious hall.
There’s even a plan for a hidden garage and driveway, so the natural beauty of the area remains untouched. The first floor will feature a lovely deck with sliding doors, offering stunning views of the Malverns.
The architects emphasize their commitment to preserving the tower’s history while creating a sustainable living space. It’s a cool project that honors the past while looking to the future.
