The closure of Home Sense and Smyths for a new Lidl has locals feeling disappointed and questioning the need for another supermarket in Salisbury
Salisbury: It’s a bit of a bummer to see Home Sense and Smyths closing down for a new Lidl. I mean, who doesn’t love a good shopping spot? But honestly, do we really need another supermarket right next to an existing one? It just feels a bit much.
Sure, Lidl has its fans, and I get it. I shop there too. But having two supermarkets so close together? It doesn’t really make sense for shoppers, does it? Most people drive to do their grocery shopping anyway, and Salisbury isn’t that big. You can get around pretty easily.
Plus, there’s this cool rule about keeping the Salisbury skyline clear, especially for our beautiful cathedral. Do we want to clutter the city with more supermarkets and lose that charm? It’s a tough call.
Anyway, just sharing my thoughts. It’s a shame to see these stores go, but I guess change is part of life.
