Homebase in Romford is shutting down along with 12 other stores after the chain went into administration last year
Romford: Homebase is closing its doors for good, and it’s a bummer. This store is one of 13 that are shutting down this month after the company went into administration last November.
After the news broke, The Range scooped up around 70 stores, while Sainsbury’s and B&Q took a few others. But sadly, Romford didn’t make the cut.
You can already see the closure signs plastered on the windows. It’s a sad sight, and it’s confirmed that Teneo, the administrators, couldn’t find buyers for these 13 locations, including the one on Davidson Way.
Other stores across the UK, like those in London Streatham Vale and Broadstairs, are also closing. It’s a tough time for high street shops.
Inside, the former garden centre area is empty, and it’s just a reminder of what used to be. The signs say, “this store is now closed,” and they thank customers for their support.
All the staff were informed about the closure through their managers, and letters were sent home to confirm the news. It’s been a rough ride for everyone involved.
While Teneo has been in touch with the affected employees, they haven’t shared much more information. It’s a tough situation for the community.
