When they went to court, the sheriff was pretty harsh. She said they deserved to be locked up for what they did. But because they’re young, they got off with community service instead. One guy has to do 240 hours of unpaid work, while the other is on a restriction of liberty order for eight months.
The victim shared how he’s been having nightmares and panic attacks since the attack. He even missed his school exams and turned down an apprenticeship because he was too scared to go back to Dunfermline.
It’s just sad to see how one night of violence can change a person’s life. The sheriff told the attackers they should be ashamed of themselves, but it feels like they got away with it.
