A patient at Walsall Manor Hospital says mice are causing sleepless nights, raising concerns about hygiene and safety in the ward.
He filmed one scurrying under his bed and says they’re everywhere. Daniel mentioned that some nurses are too scared to even come into the ward. When he brought it up, he learned that staff had reported a mouse problem back in November.
Daniel’s not just worried about the mice; he’s got an open wound and is questioning how safe this place really is. He’s seen five or six mice at a time, coming through the walls and radiators. It’s like a horror movie, but it’s his reality.
He’s been trying to manage, but it’s tough. He can’t even walk to the toilet without fearing a mouse might run up his leg. He’s been asking staff to clean up, but nothing seems to work. The mice just keep coming back.
Daniel feels like the mice have taken a liking to him, making it impossible to get any sleep. He’s even worried about waking up to find one nibbling on him. It’s loud enough that he can hear them screeching at night.
He’s been posting videos on Facebook, showing the mice running around. He’s asked to be moved to another ward, but the nurses say there’s nothing they can do.
Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust has apologized for the distress and says they’re on it with pest control and cleaning efforts. But for Daniel, it’s still a nightmare.
